Fun Balloon Day #1                                         This 'lab' counts as Quiz 5.

Instructions:

Take a balloon and blow it up inside a Lenart Sphere, so everyone's balloon is about the same size.

Use a Sharpie or suitable pen/marker to construct the triangle as explained below using ASA.  Measure

the remaining angle(s) and list them in the table below.  Estimate the area of your triangle using A~bh/2

as in plane geometry.  Calculate the other quantities listed in the table.  When you're done with your triangle, put your answers on the markerboard.  Copy the answers off the markerboard from your classmates.  Use inches for all lengths.

1. Construct your triangle by first drawing a side of length: ____________ using the ruler

2. Next, use the protractor to construct the following two angles, one from each side of your original line

    segment: _________     and    ____________

3. Finally, let the two new sides connect and measure the new angle: _____________

4. The sum of the measures of the angles in my triangle is : _________________

5. The area of my triangle is about : ___________________

classmate's name

sum of angles in degrees

sum of angles in radians= S

Calculate =Q

Area of triangle = A

Calculate A/Q
